My Must-Have Skincare Products
If I’m going anywhere I definitely need a cute bag, a go with everything necklace, and my skin care products!
I have suffered from acne ever since puberty hit. I’ve tried every different kind of skin care products.
I’ve even seeked out help from my doctor.
what I’ve found:
Some products dry out your skin, some leave it feeling like there is gunk on top of your skin.
It’s taken me 25 years and I have finally found products that I like.
I still have breakouts whether flared from stress, ‘that time of the month,’ or a few too many cheat days on the diet.
The products above help manage my skin- and make it look its best!
I would definitely recommend Proactiv for people suffering from acne.
But for me…although advertised as “only three easy steps” was too much of a hassle.
I hated getting the sink and clothes wet at the end of the day as I washed my face for the second time.
So I searched for a product that would allow me to wash my face within the shower.
And I found:
Spectro Jel
With a steam filled- open pored shower, my skin feels the most cleaned and fresh with my spectro gel.
It’s effective- easy to use- and a lot less expensive than proactiv.
A cost-effective alternative to the over marketed competitor.
At the end of the day.. when you need to wash all the gunk off your face I use:
Neutrogena Grapefruit Cleansing Wipes
These were not my first choice of the Neutrogena products.
The first I tried were the blue makeup removal cleansing wipes.
Ouff- bad choice.
It dried out my skin completely and irritated my skin.
Not easily deterred … I gave Neutrogena a second chance with the pink grapefruit acne prone skin product.
Am I ever glad I did!
Not only is it gentle enough for my sensitive skin.. It leaves my face smelling of grapefruit.
Enough to make my man lean over beside me in bed to get a cuddly sniff!
Some days you can’t help but feel a pesky bump forming under your skin.
On those days… I take action immediately with:
Proactiv Refining Mask
Although I moved away from using proactiv…the one product I could not do without was the refining mask.
Although it is marketed and works nicely as a refining mask.
I use it as a spot treatment.
I often caught blemishes before they formed with this beauty of a product.
And often shorten the lifespan of the blemish as well!
[ Tip: you can often get a better price at kiosks in the greater Toronto area compared to shopping online ]
With all these products so far…your face is going to become very dried out without some help.
A great moisture that absorbs into the skin without leaving behind a layer is:
Aveeno positively radiant daily moisturizer
Why I love this product:
it has SPF 15 for my fair skin
the light diffusers (or sparkles) within the moisturizer help brighten my skin.
[ I hadn’t realized that the moisturizer had sparkles before my man tried on the product one day and I noticed sparkles all over his face. So my recommendation would be that this product be used by medium to light skin. As the sparkles show on medium to dark skin ]
The product uses active naturals: total soy complex. Probably why the product does not feel like I am putting chemicals on my face, and easy absorption happens within the skin.
Almay Smart Shade
I’ve been using this product for quite some time.
Although I may have blemish prone skin, I hate the feeling of a cover up mask on my face.
A make up mask doesn’t help your skin either..
This product helped even out my colouration…while still feeling light enough for my skin to breathe.
I recently switched to the anti-aging by mere fact that my supermarket was out of my original.
But the anti aging serum is heavier and a thicker product- opposite of what I liked from the original.
These Beauty Products allow me to confidently do beauty close-ups like these!
Nice post! I’m not acne-prone, but your review of the Aveeno moisturizer made me want to try it. Do you find this product compare favourably even to more expensive, high-end moisturizers? I know that some of the best products are actually inexpensive drug store brands, but I still sometimes fall prey to the myth that ‘you get what you pay for’. Just curious how this compares to higher end products you may have tried.

Aw thank you love! I got to admit I do subscribe to the idea that the high end products dont have anything the inexpensive products dont- so I havent tried any! Although ive been tempted by miss cindy crawfords product more than once. hahah. But the moisturizer is twenty or less and definitely inexpensive enough to get a trial run! 🙂 I would love to know what you think if you do try it!!!

Thanks for the quick response! I don’t be need a new moisturizer at the moment, but will keep this mind for the next round. I value that it has sun protection in it. My foundation is SPF15 as well, but I feel that so little gets on certain parts of my face that I’m probably not fully covered.
In the heat of summer I’ll add actual sun screen to the routine, but for days like this one, I’d like to think SPF in my cosmetics will do the job.
I’ll report back if I do try it!

Bag and necklace are adorable. The color of the bag is a must have and the necklace is perfect for any occasion. As for skincare, I have acne prone skin as well, I’ll give these products a try.
