I wanted to thank all my loves on instagram and on my blog.
You are the reason I finally had a shopping haul that wasn’t from a thrift store.
So I wanted to share with you all the things I got!
I wanted to thank all my loves on instagram and on my blog.
You are the reason I finally had a shopping haul that wasn’t from a thrift store.
So I wanted to share with you all the things I got!
Maybe because it’s my birthday month.
Maybe I get to layer more this month because of the cold.
Maybe because I had the best Thrift Haul Ever recently…
Whatever the reason, this month has some of my favourite outfits ever.
I wear heels on the daily.
Only occasionally hanging them up’ for converses on the weekend!
That’s a lot of pounding on a little-bitty heel.
So of course there is general wear and tear…and I’ll hear that dreaded “metal-clicking.”
I almost didn’t buy my H&M sleeveless top considering I am a little self-conscious about my arms.
But it was only $15, and my man gently reminded me how many ways I could style it for only $15 dollars.
He was right-
I may not have been excited about the piece,
but it was definitely an investment piece!
I’ve been doing #ootd shots for over a year now.
Think about that… That is 365 outfits.
woah- there’s no way I have that much clothes!
…
Well let’s take a look at mine and instagram’s favourite outfits of October.
When I was walking into the office world thoughts of boring button ups and suits came to mind.
BLAH. ICK. BooooRING!
But a good styled fitted suit can be really sexy on a woman.
A powerful in command kind of beauty.
I’ve been doing my ootd shots for quite some time now.
And those that have been following me for longer periods get to know my wardrobe.
Start to recognize certain pieces.
And hopefully enjoy seeing different ways I’ve styled them.
I decided to start showing these stylings in my blog posts!
First feature?!
My Orange Old Navy Midi Skirt!
Shopping is my cardio.
That quote used to annoy me. My reasoning being:
If you’re thin just by shopping…that just means you’re one of those lucky skinny *Beeps*.
So obviously I thought it was annoying out of pure jealousy. haha!
But I decided to walk to my goodwill location this month.
It’s a 20 minute hike according to Google.
Meaning I got 40 mins of additional walking in today. Not bad!
That’s an extra 150 calories roughly!
…
My Goodwill shopping was necessary this month:
I have an upcoming post coming up this week called:
“Thrifty Thursday part 2”
It is going to be about fixing an item that you found at goodwill.
So obviously I had to go shopping to see what I could dig up.
And well… I found a few other items I couldn’t leave behind either 🙂
…
Here they are:
From Left to Right:
– A light teal floral crochet dress
– Club Couture purple peeptoe booties
– Blush Pink Crocheted-Back blouse from Smart Set
– Teal FCUK Shirt-dress
– Also got the item that I will be fixing for Thursday… Stay Tuned for that 😉
All together they cost: $30 dollars.
…
My favourite find is obviously the booties.
What is your favourite?

Have you ever gone into a retail store catered to work attire?
Once you shift through the sea of mostly black items… you find a piece you like.
And experience a little tag shock.
The price of one work outfit, can usually buy me two casual day outfits.
…
That’s why I’ve taken to buying work attire either at retail stores that have a work attire section
(often the prices aren’t as expensive in specialized shops)
or I make a trip to my favourite goodwill location 🙂
…
My best find ever was a pant suit with the tags still on it.
Originally priced at $150.00 plus tax.
I paid $50 – the most I’ve ever spent on a thrift store item.
But my man wouldn’t let me pass on the deal…luckily!
It was a Calvin Klein pant suit never been worn at a third of the price.
…
Here’s the suit.
I paired it with a thrifted bold blue guess shirt $3.00
Tres-sexy.
For my shoes i choose: my open-toed nine west heels $7.00.
Lastly to complete the look- I added my gothy-black necklace $12.00
The jewellery can sometimes be overpriced.
But i couldn’t leave it behind
All together this professional thrifted look cost me $72.00
…
Compared to what it would cost new:
The suit cost: $150
Guess shirts average between $40-60 ..Check it out Here.
costume jewellery cost average between 25-50 in retail stores roughly.
Nine West Peep Toe Heels: 110-125…Check it out here
So let’s be on the conservative side…totalling: $325
That’s a total savings of $253.
Well Damn.
I didn’t even think I saved that much until I just priced it out…
…
If you aren’t completely convinced.

Shopping for Value in your Wardrobe
Here are a few things to think about before you purchase an item.
1. The second opinion test
Everyone shops with a buddy. You need someone to look at you in a different perspective.
Whether it is to comfort your insecurities.
Or maybe to bring you down to earth- to let you know maybe that style makes you chunkier than you really are.
Even if you don’t have someone to come with you today- people have even taken to the internet with the “dressing room selfies” to get that needed second opinion.
Make sure your shopping buddy can be honest though- or you might go home with something that makes your waist look bigger, your butt fatter, or legs stubbier. Whatever the body phenonomen you deal with is!
2. Three outfit rule
Nobody knows your wardrobe like you do- so if you can’t think of 3 outfits with the new item it could be a sign that:
you’re a little love blind.
You’ll take that piece home and it’ll sit in your closet with the tags on.
When I buy something I can not wait to wear it the next chance i get- and that’s because I already have outfits in mind before I leave the store!
3. Am I buying a trend or good style?
I don’t buy trends- and when I have…I often regretted it.
After a while that trend fades and I’m stuck with a pair of pleather leggings that gather dust in my closet.
It’s not that pleather leggings are a bad trend- I mean there is a reason I bought them…Look at those amazing outfits above!
They just don’t fit well with my specific style and the rest of my wardrobe.
Fashion fades- good style is forever.
Sometimes I get asked where I got items that I bought over 5 years ago
That’s because (1) I try and take care of my clothing, and (2) good style is always worth buying
does it make sense yet?
You want a piece forever…not until a new season trend comes along.
…
Exclaimer: If a trend fits your style- Go crazy!
If it goes with the rest of your wardrobe:
It will no longer make your outfit look dated when the trend is gone- instead it will look like that is just your style eternally.
4. How much would you pay for this item?
Ok… it’s passed the second opinion test.
You’re excited about three new outfits you have to wear.
And… you know you’ll love this piece for a long time.
Now is the moment of truth- How much would you pay for this article of clothing?
Fill in the blank…
Don’t look at the tags- just be honest.
I often do this game with my man when I’m not quite sure about an item…I ask him:
“How much would you pay for this?”
If the price is on or under his answer- this article definitely adds value to my wardrobe.
If it’s over- maybe I should hold out for something better or an upcoming sale.
What’s interesting is… I never regret leaving these items behind- I never have that dreaded “I wish I just took it home”
You know why? Because that piece wasn’t worth it!
…
Only get pieces that pass these four tests because then you know you’re buying value!
Great style is melded through a long process of accumulating great pieces that all go together.
Using these four rules before buying will help your wallet stay fuller and your closet more cohesive.
