Style Adventure: old Town country road

I have always wanted to style a Canadian tuxedo. When we came across this old mill off an abandon railroad I knew now was the perfect time.

I couldn’t decide between two ways of styling. The first was a full buttoned, true to Canadian tuxedo, styled with heels and gold accents.

My hair is crimped from French braids worn over night and styled with a black ribbon. It gave it a very cutesy 60s vibe.

My hair was going crazy in the below shot was a loved how fun it made the photo.

My second styling was more relaxed with deep reddish boots and an unbuttoned jean shirt. I switched up the purse as well to a more everyday relaxed style with fringe.

We followed the abandoned railroad to the end of the line just for fun and I’m glad we did because it inspired the last styling.

This is the feel of the town that I grew up in.

I hope you enjoyed my little nostalgic style adventure.

Styling: Rainy Days

The Canadian Long weekend is here, and that is when I usually do my photos for social media. But of course, it is nothing but rain and fog set for the forecast.

Then a perfect backdrop for a foggy day hit me… the docks with the lighthouse!

So I put on my best rainy day colourful outfit and braved the cold.

Styling Up: Raincoat

I’ve written about styling up low purchase items with high purchase items before, I thought I would give a similar tip for outerwear items.

Did you buy your raincoat for style or function?

Just because you bought your outerwear for function, doesn’t mean you cannot add a bit of style.

Re-purposing Work Clothes

To make the most of your wardrobe, don’t leave your work wear in a special place in your closet. Doomed to only be dragged out on sad mornings getting ready for the Nine to Five!

Re-purpose your work wear and style it for casual wear or a date night look.

I styled a work blazer and pink work skirt for weekend looks in the following post…

Shopping Spree: Marshalls

My man and I had a little shopping splurge this weekend…

after realizing we hadn’t stopped by Marshalls in long while.

With a little extra change in our pocket… we thought why not *shrugs*?

With spring blossoms and a fresh new job … I got some really cute items to fit the bill.

Toronto’s Shopping: Adorn on Yonge

I’d like to thank Adorn for the invitation to their grand opening!

They have a mix of pretty bohemian to airy modern attire.

Each piece is stylish “easy-wear.”

Branding Yourself

Paying $400 to Brand Myself.

Once upon a time my heart was stolen by Valentino.

He came across my news feed, and won me over with his blushing colour and his classy bow ties.

imagejpeg_2[1] PicsArt_1407609847740[1]

Meet Mr. Valentino.

My heart still aches that I do not own this beautiful bag.

But my ultimate decision was to walk away.

As you may have guessed the price of this beauty was the decision factor.

Branding myself with this bag would sting my budget in a hard way.

And I ultimately decided that the beauty wasn’t worth the pain.

While tormenting over this decision at home and at work.

I was given some rather interesting advice.

If the bag is worth more than what you would carry inside it…then you can’t afford it.

I already knew I couldn’t afford the item.

But I guess the poetic wording of this statement had turned a light bulb on in my head.

Why do people buy brands?

There are 3 logical reasonings to do so:

1. Confidence that the brand represents quality

2. Keeping up with the Joneses mentality

3. Loyalty ie. emotional attachment to brand

My desire was strictly to do with number 2.

To be able to say I own a Beautiful Valentino bag.

But that’s silly.

To me that would be like those people that flash money that don’t have any.

fanned money

Cue the money selfie.

If at some point in time I could walk around easily with disposable money of $400 in my bag.

The value of Valentino would be justified.

But until then… Me, my thrifted bag, and my fabulous self are walking away.

End Rant.

Asian Impression Photography

I’ve followed @asianimpression ie. Teban on instagram for quite some time.

His instagram is dedicated to asian beauty and fashion.

I am never disappointed with his posts. He even adds witty and inspirational captions to each photo.

What’s not to love about that?

You can check out his work here:

Teban had decided to come to toronto to do collaborations with some of his friends from Instagram.

He contacted me to do a 3 outfit photoshoot.

I got to say I was a little shocked.

1. little ol me? really?!

2. umm.. Im not asian? haha … luckily I was one of the few rare exceptions

3. Oh crap. Im not in the shape I would love to be for such an opportunity.

But you know what it was an amazing opportunity that such insecurities would not hold me back!

I was pleasantly surprised that Teban choose to shoot in Kensington Market with its beautiful colours and culture.

I thought that it was such a perfect setting.

Every wall that Teban placed me in front of- i loved. Exactly why i picked this outfit.

It was fun, colourful, and funky.

Perfect for all these graffiti walls.

luckily he was willing to shoot me in front of my favourite wall, the black and white one,  even though the sun overexposed everything.

This outfit represents how I like to have fun with my wardrobe and experiment!

On the weekends I like to keep it simple and cute.

So the locations he chose were actually quite perfect- they look like everyday scenery.

Everyday scenery for a Everyday look!
