I recently went thrift shopping, the first in about a year!!
The first outfit I made with my thrifted items was a chic work fit.

Honestly I did not think a high low dress would be apart of my wardrobe.
But here we are!
Read on to get my style thoughts and why I didn’t think high low dresses were worth it.
The Canadian Long weekend is here, and that is when I usually do my photos for social media. But of course, it is nothing but rain and fog set for the forecast.
Then a perfect backdrop for a foggy day hit me… the docks with the lighthouse!
So I put on my best rainy day colourful outfit and braved the cold.Â
I’ve written about styling up low purchase items with high purchase items before, I thought I would give a similar tip for outerwear items.
Did you buy your raincoat for style or function?
Just because you bought your outerwear for function, doesn’t mean you cannot add a bit of style.
To make the most of your wardrobe, don’t leave your work wear in a special place in your closet. Doomed to only be dragged out on sad mornings getting ready for the Nine to Five!
Re-purpose your work wear and style it for casual wear or a date night look.
I styled a work blazer and pink work skirt for weekend looks in the following post…
Don’t be one dimensional about your clothing.
A dress can work triple duty in your wardrobe as a dress, skirt, and a shirt. This week I showcased this style technique by turning a club dress into a classy street look capable of taking me to a museum in style.
I’m a fan of Victorian fashion… and the new trend of steampunk has me beyond curious. If it was socially acceptable to walk about in Victorian garb- I would.
There is something from that era that is both refined and sexy that has been lost in today’s day in age.
A sure way to add some personality to your work wardrobe is to add a lot of colour.
I don’t usually gravitate towards bright colours in my wardrobe, but when shopping for work wear…I always seek out new and exciting colours.
…
When shopping at Marshalls, I seen this brightly coloured cat design jacket. I jokingly said to my man… what if i wanted this? After contemplating his answer, I realized I wanted it. Some of the best items in my wardrobe were definitely unexpected.
I paired my blue hues with some bright pink and orange.
The outfit definitely has some POP.
Even though this outfit appears to be really “Put it together” it is remarkably comfortable.
I would definitely recommend purchasing a relaxed jacket. It adds an easy sophistication to an outfit.

I wanted a sleeveless grey maxi dress for a awhile now.
I have seen this dress styled in so many ways, I knew I had to add it to my wardrobe. It would serve my mood-styling very well. Today I feel classy (grey maxi), today I feel bad ass (grey maxi), today i feel like… just throwing something on …(grey maxi).
It just works on so many levels.
After I made an outfit completely out of my last thrifted haul. I wanted to start mixing some of my thrifted finds with some of my higher priced items. Having one luxe item to an outfit can elevate an entire look.
